CHRISTMAS ALGEBRA 1 Solving Equations Math Activity

OBJECTIVE: Student will solve algebraic equations in one variable including two-step, multi-step with distributive property and equations with variables on both sides.

CCSS HSA-REI.A.1

ACTIVITY: Students will find the solutions to 24 equations to pair the light bulbs with the solutions on the bulb bases. There are 8 two-step equations, 8 multi-step equations and 8 equations with variables on both sides. String the light bulbs to add some holiday cheer to your classroom! This activity works well either as independent work or in collaborative groups. Answer keys provided.

You will need the following materials:

colored card stock paper

gray card stock paper

scissors

hole puncher

glue

string
