Solving Equations with Variables on Both Sides Task Cards contains 32 problems and has solutions as integers (to minimize computational errors with fractions and decimals) allowing students to focus more on the algebraic concept of solving equations.
Problems become progressively more challenging and allows for easy modification of task card assignment with three versions of student recording sheets. (Answer keys included.)
Problems #1-8: Simple Variables on Both Sides
Problems #9-16: requires applying the distributive property once
Problems #17-24: requires applying the distributive property twice
Problems #25-32: equations with proportions (I include this lesson when I teach the solving unit since often the cross product results in applying solving with variables on both sides)
