Writing Linear Equations Self-Checking Card Match Activity
This activity contains 48 cards: 24 verbal descriptions of lines and 24 corresponding equations. Students will write linear equations in Standard Form, Slope-Intercept Form and Point-Slope Form of the line given two points, a point and a slope and/or x- and y-intercepts.
Self-Checking!…Each Problem Card is identified by a unique symbol (happy face, heart, cat, star…etc). The correct Equation Card has the matching symbol on the back of the card to provide students with immediate correct/incorrect feedback taking the guesswork out of knowing if the student understands the concept or needs more instruction.
Activity can even be modified so students can practice writing a specific form by omitting the other cards. Works well as a review, partner practice, math centers and/or extra credit. Printing on cardstock and laminating is recommended for extended use. 🙂
